Dr. James L. Coleman, Jr. : Keynote Speaker, CHW Impact Summit

We are honored to welcome Dr. James L. Coleman, Jr. as the keynote speaker for the 2024 CHW Impact Summit, taking place on October 28th-29th. A native of Camden, South Carolina, Dr. Coleman brings over 18 years of experience and expertise in Public Health and Health Care Management, making him an exceptional leader in community health.

Dr. Coleman currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc., a Federally Qualified Community Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to providing comprehensive healthcare services to underserved populations. His leadership has been instrumental in positioning the center as a beacon of "Operational Excellence" for the communities of Madison, Humphrey, and Yazoo Counties in Mississippi.

Dr. Coleman’s distinguished career spans various significant roles, including his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Margaret J. Weston Community Health Centers in Aiken County, and as Department Chair for the Division of Health and Natural Science at Voorhees College. His commitment to public service is further demonstrated by his work as the former Chief Executive Officer of Wateree Community Action, Inc., where he focused on empowering disadvantaged communities to achieve self-sufficiency.

With his extensive background, Dr. Coleman has also contributed to national efforts in eliminating health disparities through the social determinants of health during his time with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Additionally, he served as Director for the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control, overseeing critical national and state-level initiatives.
