Becoming a Certified CHW

To become a Certified Community Health Worker (CCHW) in South Carolina, you must complete a state-approved Core Competency training program, pass a certification exam, and meet any additional requirements established by the South Carolina Community Health Worker Credentialing Council (SCCHWCC). Our goal is to support your growth and development as you serve your communities to improve public health. 

Core Competency Training consists of 80 hours of facilitated, engaged learning and 80 hours of practicum supervised by an approved preceptor. Below you may review the SCCHW Core Competencies.
